Quentin Wilson - Student Athlete Of The WeekWilson helped the Patriots improve to 5-0 in a 72-20 victory against Public Safety Academy. Wilson rushed 158 yards and touchdowns on 11 carries as he crossed the 700-yard mark for the season.
Elise Winward - Student Athlete Of The WeekWinward dropped just two games in six sets. She put up a triple bagel against Burroughs and went 6-1, 6-0, 6-1 against Oak Hills.
Lauve Williams - Student Athlete Of The WeekWilliams ran all over Granite Hills as Hesperia picked up a 49-30 victory Friday. Williams finished with 290 yards and six touchdowns on 23 carries. He had 136 yards and four touchdowns in the third quarter alone.
Kayla Bergin - Student Athlete Of The WeekBergin had a productive week with three races. She took first at both the High Desert Cross Country Challenge and the first Desert Sky League cluster meet of the season. She set the course record at the Horseman’s Center Park course with a time of 19 minutes, 10 seconds at the HD Challenge. She helped the Cougars to a second-place finish in the Red Varsity A race, taking 21st with a time of 18:27.4.
Latavion Staples - Student Athlete Of The WeekStaples grabbed five passes for 178 yards and third touchdowns as the Hawks beat Eastside 73-0 on Friday. He had a long reception of 86 yards.
Corina Smith - Student Athlete Of The Week Smith went 6-0 throughout the week as the Scorpions won both matches. She went 6-0, 6-0, 6-0 against Barstow and 7-5, 6-0, 6-1 against AAE.
Kashan Griffin - Student Athlete Of The WeekGriffin scored three touchdowns as the Sun Devils beat Barstow 53-30. He scored twice on kickoff returns, reeling off an 80 and a 90-yard touchdown return, and scored the other touchdown after returning an interception. He had 181 yards on three returns and another 30 yards on the interception return.
Madison Gleason - Student Athlete Of The WeekGleason averaged 8.9 assists and 3.3 digs per set as the Scorpions opened the season with wins against Miller, Colton and Silverado. Gleason, a setter, also had nine kills. In the season opener against Miller, she helped Hesperia rally from down 0-2 to the win with a 37-assist performance.
Michael Mendoza - Student Athlete Of The WeekMendoza helped Sultana rally for a 34-27 win against Norte Vista on Friday. The Sultana senior quarterback ran for the winning touchdown with about two minutes left and converted the two-point conversion with a pass. He was 6 of 15 for 74 yards through the air and carried the ball 12 times for 113 yards and three rushing touchdowns.
Alex Parisian - Student Athlete Of The WeekParisian helped get the Sun Devils off to a 2-0 start to the season with a couple of big performances. She opened the season with 16 kills, 18 assists, 24 digs, two blocks and one ace against Cajon. Then she followed that up with eight kills, 17 assists and 14 digs against Silverado.
Jeff Widener - Student Athlete Of The WeekIn his first varsity start at quarterback, Widener rallied Apple Valley from a 12-point deficit in the fourth quarter to open the season with a win against Silverado. Widener finished with 233 yards passing and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 97 yards on 13 carries and scored twice more on the ground.
