While Southern Californians have been enjoying Chipotle’s Queso for several months now, the fast food chain has announced that the spicy and cheesy dip will soon be available everywhere!
According to Thrillist, the official nationwide menu addition will arrive on Tuesday, September 12th. Based on feedback from customers who have already been able to order Chipotle’s Queso, the restaurant has adjusted the recipe, so the final product may differ slightly from what some SoCal consumers have already tasted.
“Although queso was the number one requested menu item, we never added it to our menu before now because we wouldn’t use the industrial additives used in most quesos,” Chipotle CEO and Founder Steve Ells said in a statement, according to Thrillist.
“Additives make typical queso very consistent and predictable, but are not at all in keeping with our food culture. Our queso may vary slightly depending on the characteristics of the aged cheddar cheese used in each batch, but using only real ingredients is what makes our food so delicious.”
The full list of ingredients in Chipotle’s queso can be found on their website. Chipotle also notes that its queso is gluten free, preservative free, and without added colors or flavors.
