Authorities are looking for a hit-and-run driver who hit a 5-year-old boy and failed to stop and render aid to the child.
CBS Los Angeles reports the young boy was struck on Chicago Avenue and University Avenue, in Riverside, Thursday evening.
According to KCAL 9’s Crystal Cruz, the 5 year-old victim was taken to Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital with serious injuries.
The boy was reportedly struck after he ran out of a store and into a parking lot. Witnesses to the incident said they tried to follow the SUV driver, but their attempts failed.
The SUV is described as being black or possibly dark gray and it might have front-end damage.
Video surveillance from different stores is being scanned by officers.
The boy is now stabilized and is now talking. The hit and run driver is facing felony charges for leaving the scene.
