Ever since Gregg Popovich decided to rest four key Spurs during their national TV game against the LeBron James-lead Miami Heat in 2012, at a cost of $250K because neither the league or nor the media were alerted, teams resting players has grown more prevalent. In the past few weeks, with two straight nationally televised Saturday night games essentially ruined by stars sitting, the issue has come to a head.

On Monday, commissioner Adam Silver sent a memo to the NBA’s board of governors, in which he called the issue “significant.” Via NBA.com:
