In Hesperia early Thursday morning a San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy was hospitalized for injuries sustained in shooting.
CBS Los Angeles reports that just before 1 a.m. near Escondido Avenue and Muscatel Street in Hesperia, authorities attempted to conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle.
A confrontation began between the sheriff’s deputy and the suspect at some point during the incident, and the suspect starting shooting and subsequently struck the deputy’s bulletproof vest.
The deputy was transported by paramedics to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
As of now, the suspect reportedly remains at large.
The suspects vehicle, a dark colored Chrysler was later found unoccupied in Hesperia near Topaz Avenue and Wells Fargo Street.
According to authorities there weren’t any weapons recovered at the scene.
